226. The Dressmaker of Khair Khana

A book about five sisters in Afghanistan during Taliban's ruling of Kabul. A freshgraduate young woman of a teaching degree found herself banned from school and confined to her home. She later became the breadwinner of her five siblings. The book revolves around her and her resilience in the face of despair. What stands out to me was how resilient of her, how instead of wailing and whinging and getting depressed because of the new system, the sisters worked around the system and sthrive.

Overall, admirable characters, but really really boring book as the story was told very poorly i thought.
