188. It's Not You, It's Me, Helen Dunne

It's a chicklit, but with abit of more interesting story line rather than girl meets boy, simply because the character is a private investigator so the love story also incorporates part of her job that makes this book more fun to read. Plus, the story has some funny characters. :)

"When it is wrong, a relationship can be the most unhappiest place to be in the world"

"Seamus is a wonderful boy. Do you know that he once ran a marathon for charity?'
'Really?'
'Aye. To raise money for prostitute with cancer.'
'Prostitute with cancer?' I'm confused. What a saint this Seamus mist be, and then the penny drops. 'Do you mean prostrate cancer?'
'Aye' she nods. 'That's what i said. Who else thinks of those poor fallen women? Our Lord took pity on Mary Magdalene, and now my nephew takes pity on her successors.'"

'Cook? I thought Pete had given you some cookery lessons during your ill-fated relationship? He once told me he'd taught you how to make a perfect risotto. What happened?'
'I discovered Pot Noodles.'
James looks appaled. I shurg.
'I'm a normal woman but i dont like spending time in the kithcen. Pete loved it. I should have realised our r/s was doomed when he spent twenty minutes extolling the virtues of mushrooms. I mean, how excited can you get over fungi? And it turned out that he loved these little dried out old ones that cost a fortune.'
'Porcini?'
'I dont know much about opera, sorry, and please dont change the subject again.' James burst out laughing. 'Hey, i cant help it. Once Pete told me to seperate six eggs for a meringue. I spent ten minutes putting each one into different kitchen cupboards. ...'
