157. Burmese Days, George Orwell

The beginning of the book have lots of promising characters with hopeful story line. But towards the end, it became so depressing and disturbing... just like 'Animals Farm'. I know it probably depicts the truth.. but still, the irony and the brutal truth made me quite disturbed.

156. The Ex-Boyfriend's Handbook, Matt Dunn

Very funny and entertaining read into a man's world. I think he's one of my fav author when it comes to funny blokelit (as opposed to chicklit).

There's not much weight to the story though, compare to 'Best Man', his first novel.

155. I Just Want My Pants Back, David J. Rosen

The book was ok.. not ha-ha funny. An interesting insight to the life of a single middle class guy. I thought the title and the beginning of a story was interesting.. about this guy who had a couple one-night stands with this same girl, who took his pants with her when she left the next morning. But the rest of the story was boring and not interesting at all.

154. Confession of a Shopaholic, Sophie Kinsella

I've seen the movie prior to reading the book. I'm surprise how different they are. I'm not sure which version i like better.

When i saw the movie, I could almost emphatise with the character and thought she was funny. But I didnt like the character in the book. I thought she was too weak, unreasonable, immature, and everything else that made me unable to emphatise. I didnt think she (neither the character or the writer) was that funny either.

153. Book Lover, Jennifer Kaufman & Karen Mack

As she introduces her next song, the captions reads something like this "Ladies and gentlemen, sometimes the one you love disappoints you. And when that happens, it is very sad indeed. It happened to me, and i wrote this song. It's called 'Fuck you, Stuart!' "

152. Anybody Any Minute, Julie Mars

"Sometimes misfits are just people who are larger than life..."

A light and nice reading about a honest compulsive woman who bought a house on her way to visit her sister. She decided to spend the summer at the 'new' house,.. to meditate on life, love etc. Reminds me of me. :)

151. The Valkyries, Paulo Coelho

"We are responsible for everything that happens in this world. We are the warriors of the light. With the strength of our love and of our will, we can change our destiny, as well as the destiny of many others.

The day will come when the problem of hunger can be solved through the miracle of the multiplication of the bread. The day will come when love will be accepted by every heart, and the most terrible of the human experience, solitude, which is worse than hunger, will be banned from the face of the eart. The day will come when those who knock at the gates will see them open, those who ask will receive, those who weep will be consoled.

For the planet Earth, the day is still a long way off. But for each of us, that day can be tomorrow. One has only to accept a simple fact: Love - of God and of others - shows us the way. Our defects, our dangerous depths, our suppressed hatreds, our moments of weakness and desperation - all are unimportant. If what we want to do is heal ourselve first, so that then we can go in search of our dreams, we will never reach paradise. If, on the other hand, we accept all that is wrong about us, and despite it, believe that we are deserving of a happy life, then we will have trown open an immense window that will allow Love to enter. Little by little, our defects will dissapear, because one who is happy can look at the world only with love - the force that regenerates everything that exist in the universe "

150. Breaking Dawn, Stephanie Meyer

Hate the first half, but loving the second half.
